Kinetic was founded in March of 2004. Its purpose was simple: Change the underrepresentation of powernoise, IDM, and associated subgenres in the Chicago industrial scene. Beginning first at the ill-fated Bottom Lounge, the night moved from there after the venue's being closed by the city of Chicago through eminent domain. It held a number of underground shows and dance nights before landing at Spot 6, where the night flourished. In 2006, the present culmination of the club's efforts was achieved through successfully pulling off the Indoctrination Festival, the likes of which hadn't been seen anywhere in Chicago's illustrious history of industrial music.

Kinetic is comprised of six individuals: Sprite, WEiRD sKeTCH, Pathogen, Gremlin, MisterEntropy and Licious. The group is also assisted by some individuals frequently, such as Killjoy, our tech monkey and occasional sound guy, and Cytokine, occasional sub DJ and public relations extraordinaire. Over the past four years, Kinetic has put on two club nights, Kinetic and Nexus 6, and organized many live shows with such bands as Terrorfakt, Grendel, Iszoloscope, Mono No Aware, Cervello Elettronico, and dozens more.
